The recreational, educational and cultural overlay prepared for this constructed wetland was designed to enhance the riparian and wetland plantings. The themes developed have a strong emphasis on ecology and the high intrinsic values of the wetland ecosystems. The design enhances the wetland habitat creating a useable recreation area for residents and visitors, which through education and inspiration provides a valued resource for the whole community. The design of amenity planting, habitat areas, rock work, artwork, interpretive areas, jetties, bird hides, shelters and seating, is connected via a series of pedestrian and cycle links.
